I just came back after a 4 days trip to the valley during the most recent Artic cold front, lowest temperature when I was photographing was on Wednesday morning at -30F. My primary objective was to photograph wolves, but I wasn't lucky enough to find any in a photographing distance. There was an elk kill in the area while I was there which was about a mile from the road, we were not allowed to go close enough for photographing (there was an official scavenger study was going on that carcass). Well, I got to shoot something else, changed the focus to the easily found bisons . Also it wasn't extremely difficult to find River Otters and Golden Eagles in action although Golden eagle shot was bit of challenge in adverse conditions and at bit of a distance. Anyway, Lamar valley is beautiful when covered in snow!
C&C Appreciated as usual and thanks for checking,
Shibu
1: Bison in strong wind drifting snow all around
2: Golden Eagle pair with Elk Carcass, leftover from the wolves
Shibu - Great set of images. Image #4 River Otters is a great shot. Too bad you are unable to see wolves, but you came away with some incredible shots.

Thanks Greg, hopefully next time will see some wolves in a closer range, or at Walden, CO
Hey, I was there at the same time, the otters put on quite a show for three days. I saw the golden eagles on the kill at Soda Butte parking area and the frost covered bison. I got some frost bite on my hands while chasing the otters up and down the open water. I planned to be there while it was cold and really got it. We did see some wolves at a long distance near Mammoth but not close enough to photograph. I was surprised that there were so few Coyotes. You got some nice images under difficult conditions. Bruce

A joy to view. Nice work on these. The Frosted Bison makes up for missing wolves IMO.
