Wow! Super capture George! You must be elated with these images.
A couple of haggling females (I think ). Never saw this (by either sex) while working in the glades. Of course it does happen. And all the colonial nesters do have their little squabbles when nests are close together in the rookeries.
Do you think Cornell or National Audubon would like permission to use one of these?
Robert
Thanks Robert!! Yeah was glad I got a bunch of keepers they were going at it!! 🤣

More beauties, George!
I had the chance to have a quick look at the Z 400 f2.8 + TC at Nikon the other day. I can't get over how light it is, especially compared to my 400 f2.8E FL VR! The weight is also more towards the mount and this would make a big difference to how it balances on camera and thus impart a feeling of ease to use. Very tempting, but still way out of my price bracket at this stage.

Thank you Lance! Yes it is really an amazing lens, light considering what it is and fast as can be. I also get that it's really expensive, I had the chance to do it and happy I did!

To you both... the 400 f2.8 TC is a "Goldilocks" lens for me... I love the 400mm focal length and f2.8 aperture, but would also like to quick shift to 600mm (or so) without breaking the shoot. Add in one touch DX on a Z9/Z8 and you have an 800mm FOV.
Right now I have t carry a 400 f4.5 and 800PF w/ a body attached to each to achieve the same flexibility.
I have plans to go on one of Martin Bailey's wildlife tours to Japan this January and am seriously considering the sale of my lenses to buy a 400mm f2.8 TC... this of course would require that I can find one.

Think of having 600mm on a D500 at f2.8, sharp as a tack and fast as can be. Yeah it's a great lens and so versatile! Good luck with your decision! Either way you have a great setup.
