I am pretty sure the DK-19 Eye cup will also fit on a Z9. I used it on my D850 but haven't got around to seeing if it will fit the Z9 but I don't see why not.

Unfortunately, no, the DK-19 is not compatible with the Z9. Nikon changed the eyecup mount from their previous screw-in style, to a bayonet mount on the Z9.
The Z9 has the "eye sensor" at 12 o'clock so the eye cup is no longer symmetrical, and eliminated a screw in eye cup without increasing manufacturing costs to keep it as a screw in (for alignment reasons).
Looks like eye cup at Zemlin Photo, link posted by Patrickwc above, uses a modified DK-19 (cutout for the eye sensor), and may be a good option.

It’s interesting that Nikon kept the legacy 10-pin remote connector for backward compatibility, but not the diopter attachment. Lance did a nice job earlier in this thread showing how to mod a better eyecup for the Z9 and that has helped me greatly to be able to view the EVF in bright light.
The included eyepiece on the Z9 has been problematic for me, as the rubber was constantly coming off the ring, and it is so shallow it offered no shading from peripheral light (the DK-19 was much better). I look forward to seeing what Hoodman comes up with....Show more →
Yeah I haven't looked closely at the Z9's eyecup yet and just assumed I could put my DK-19 on that I used for my D850. Oh well.
I will probably just follow Lance's guide and use that style of cup when I have some time to swap them.
Yeah I just did a replacement hood order from Karl and was kicking myself for not looking at the "Other" section. I saw this thread and ordered the eyepiece with dk-19. I really like the replacement hoods he makes.
I removed the rubber cup from the rest of the plastic mounting that comes with the Fuji mount. It fits the standard Nikon mounting hardware as shown in the previous photos of this thread. This eye cup is softer than the slightly harder eye cup that I previously posted about, like the DK-19 from Nikon. This is the finished product:

Thanks Lance, with this eyepiece conversion are you still dismantling the original Nikon Z9 plastic pieces where it was snapped together, or simply removing only the rubber from it and then just replacing with this other rubber?

Still need to dismantle the plastic pieces.
What we need here is someone to make a base using a 3D printer that fits the Z9 but uses the rubber eye cup from the Fuji X-T30 II X-T20 X-T10 linked to above. Even though the original base part that fits the Z9 works, it is a little flimsy.
I just got my lense cap from zemlin photo. Both the one for the z9 and the one for the hydrophobia think tank are perfect. He also make lense cap for the 400mm z and the 800mm pf. I'll also get these. I am not a fan of the big pouch that goes over the hood.
He also make lense hood too. No I am not affiliated with him lol. I am just glad we can have good alternative product.
I ordered and received the Zemlin eyecup for the Z9. It is nicely constructed and the rubber is soft and comfortable, and I like the depth. What I don’t like is the cutout at the top, I find it distracting to see light above my eye when viewing through the camera. I think some would not be bothered by it or could get used to it. I’m going back to the first eyecup mod that Lance shared even though in all other ways I think the Zemlin is better. The Zemlin was $43.45 delivered and I don’t like to return things to small vendors, so if someone wants to try it out I will sell it for $33 shipped. Below are two pics of the Zemlin showing the cutout and the offset from the camera, and the 3rd pic is the eyecup I did based on Lance’s first mod.
Zemlin cutout in rubber cup
Offset from camera of the Zemlin
The modded eyecup from Lance’s original recommendation, no cutout on top but it’s shallower

Well I had hoped to provide a report on this before now, but appears USPS is working in diminished capacity these days (I'm being polite)
Shipped from Indiana to Oregon (also confirmed by USPS in the system)
It's currently in Guam

I appreciate the consideration and your honest review of the eyepiece. I will gladly send you a return shipping label and a refund on the purchase price (once the return is received).
I got the Zemlin eyecup the other day and have to agree the cutout light is distracting. I'll figure out some way to cover it but yeah while the 3D printed solution is great, it does need a custom rubber piece that doesn't allow stray light.

I think if Karl made a 3D printed piece that fits the Fuji eye cup that I linked to above, I would get it from him. I think that a 3D verson of the Nikon plastic base but without the gaps that are on the original Nikon plastic base would be perfect.

Thank you Karl, that is fantastic customer service! I'll send you an email when I get back home from vacation this week.
