Looking for a simple, but reliable wireless trigger for my Sony A1.
I am currently using the Sony RMT-P1BT Wireless Remote Commander, but I keep dropping the connection and have to re-pair, and every now and then it doesn't work for about 10 seconds. Basically, if a cool shot is happening, the remote decides to take a nap.
Ideally, I would be able to use the same remote on multiple cameras, it wouldn't have any lag, and it would use AA or AAA batteries (rechargeable).
I have used the RMT-P1BT with a series of Sony cameras, including the A1, and have not experienced the problems you describe. I am sure you know that the remote control can be paired with only one camera at a time, so if you switch cameras you need to re-pair. A potential problem is interference with Wi-Fi. If you have any camera Wi-Fi functions enabled, you may want to try disabling Wi-Fi, or switching to the 5GHz band. I never use camera Wi-Fi, so I have never seen any interference.
Yes, and my apologies again for muddying that particular thread with lots of error-strewn waffle to make it all look very complicated. The products discussed and linked to in that thread will work for your use case.
If you might ever want intervalometer functionality...
(...not that you have to need it as an intervalometer to justify choosing it - it's also just a very very reliable product that always fires when told to and doesn't need to reconnect or drop connection, just a very trustworthy simple trigger if you want - it once did superb service for me as a party photobooth remote for example)
... I can recommend the Pixel TW-283 - it should work with the A1 despite my earlier highly verbose doubts/errors on the topic. Any wireless trigger that, like the Pixel TW-283, features a dedicated wireless receiver of its own... that is, a bit of hardware that plugs into the camera's special USB 2 port (the same simple USB 2 port as on all the other Sony models, it all works the same)... should work well on your A1 too and sidestep any potential flakiness or fuss with a bluetooth-based device by using their own dedicated, long-lived, always-on and (in my experience) very reliable wireless system, so you actually have quite a lot of options.
Others recommended good alternatives for other price brackets and priorities (such as all-out size and simplicity), so hopefully you'll find an option in the thread that suits you.

Thanks Dave. My issue might be the Wifi, because I like sending images to my phone. I'll try it without wifi and see if that helps.
