p.1 #1 · Grotto Rock, Montana de Oro State Park, California
Past year I was extremely fortunate to do quite a bit of travelling for work in spite of Covid. Visited San Luis Obispo several times and tried to hit the Bluff trail in Montana de Oro state park right after work. The trail is absolutely stunning and if the conditions are right then photography wise its a blast. Here are two images of Grotto rock taken during sunset from two different vantage points.

Very nice. Tough to decide which one I prefer but I think it has to go to #1 because of the warm light on the cliffs and the foreground provides a nice sense of framing. I'm not familiar with this area. Would it be possible to scramble down to the beach to get a shot through the cave?

Both quite nice. Overall like #1 a bit better due to lighting, however, closer view in #2 is somewhat better. A combination of both would be really good. You can spend hours shooting the coast in that location and still not get everything.

Thank dakel, I do agree with your comment about #1. I am not quite sure that one could go down from where I was standing but there are several areas on that trail that one can access the caves. There are several and some are really huge. This whole coastline is fantastic and definitely worth exploring.

Love the golden light on the cliffs in the first image. Looks like the sea stacks would be a target for some wild wave action during a storm. A great set of images!!!

Parul,
A fine study in the workings of light on the landscape. The first image is beautifully composed. I think - and this is nitpicking - you can bring out a tad more sparkle in the lighted portion of the cliff, perhaps with a small colour & contrast adjustment.

Thank you and you are correct, the sunset light in the first image is what makes it special. Some days I have really seen some wild wave actions at this location. Bluff trail is a must do every time I am in San Luis Obispo.

Thank you Rajan, appreciate the input. As suggested I have added a bit of color and luminance on the cliff. Thanks
