Joshua, These are first class images, real winners. I live in Washington state and have had the luck to photograph them many times. Ten years ago I had twenty five burrows all with chicks however each year there have been less active burrows. two years ago there was only one and this year there were none. You are right about the eyes. Bruce

Thank you very much for your kind words, Bruce! Two years ago there was a significant decline in the owl population. But thankfully they recovered some the following year.
Beautiful! The burrowing owls around here had a horrible year, 100% mortality of the chicks on three burrows I've followed for a few years. Love your images and love burrowing owls!

Thank you very much for your kind words, Jeffrey! I am sorry to hear about the conditions of burrowing owls at your place. The future of these burrowing owls here is up in the air as the site is slotted for development. I will be going there as long as they are still around.
