Neat set Rex. Those pupils are huge. Great job under the conditions. Out of curiosity, how big or small is a Screech Owl? It looks tiny too me.

Greg

Thanks Greg. t
They are about 8 1/2 inches.

Very nicely done . I like your darker presentation the best . Especially like the one with the rain drop of the head.

Birdie

Thank you, Birdie. I like the water beads, too. It stopped raining and it shook off the drops. Although, I didn't see that happen.

Excellent shots. I tried similar shot of eastern screech owl last year and had do a lot of trial and error before I finally got a few good shots. My 500 f4 VR failed but 500PF resulted in some keepers (one on my instagram).

These are beautiful. Love the water droplets on the head! Thanks for sharing!

Awesome. I like the more realistic bluer shots than the WB adjusted ones. That bird has some serious low-light capabilities

Excellent shots of a bird that is hard to find.
Those are some long exposure times.

Dave

Thanks, Dave. Yes, they are. I got some blurs and windmills, also.

Great series Rex. The only view of this species I have ever had was a face in a nest box or tree crevice. Great job getting sharp shots with those long exposure times. Well done.

Thanks Ken. Wish I had some tree hole shots.

Nice capture! Would like to see one one day. FWIW I prefer your original processing. If you are shooting an animal in near dark, the image should look at least a little dark IMO.

Thank you, Tim. Hope you get your wish. I agree, lots of different opinions on that.

That looks challenging. Nice shots.

It was, Henrik. Thanks. I learn something new every time I try it.

Nice shots. I know what you mean. I have taken images several times and it soften very hard to get the AF to lock on. Great job.

Dave

Yes and then the bird moves. Haha. Thank you, Dave.

Thanks Manish. Yes, trial and error. One problem is sometimes you only have a few seconds and the bird is gone.

Thanks Jason. The WB adjusted ones were how I originally shot the images on Auto WB. There's a lot of leeway to interpret how to do it. I did think they should look a little more like how it was.

Thanks Geoff. It really surprised me that it did. I managed many images on this perch. Some were motion blurred. Usually I get a couple shots off and the bird is gone. Chimping was the only way to check focus. Once I got it, I never changed it.
