Happy New Year everyone! I'm sharing a couple of vintage glam images from a studio session at the end of December. Images were taken in the wonderful studio of Jonny Edward in Denver, CO. We used constant light for this set. Let me know what you think - the featured model Jordan really loves these images :-).
These are decent efforts, so understand that my comments are my opinion and what I would do differently.
Between the two images I prefer #2. In #1 the nose jewelry looks like something is dripping from her nose. There's not enough detail for the viewer to understand what they are lookin at. Raising the nose a bit would have been better. In #2 the nose jewelry is much more apparent and not an issue. The other two things apply to both images. First is the green background color. It just doesn't look good with the dress, fur, etc. Another color would have raised the image a lot. The third thing is her right hand. In both images, the two fingers on her right hand would look better if they were straight out over the other hand. The right hand just doesn't look relaxed.
You provided some nice lighting and the poses in both are good. If you shoot with Jordan again you might try a reflector in front, under her face to bounce some light up and make sure the nose jewelry is identifiable. That would also soften the shadows under her chin a bit. Just something to try.
I don’t do people photography hence my comments r just as a viewer. I thought same thing as Larry mentioned above,” In #1 the nose jewelry looks like something is dripping from her nose”
Beautiful model 👍🏻
I don't know, but I think nose rings were not common during the "vintage" times. Another feature of the shots (and I do like both of them) is the extra long finger nails. Was this popular in days of old?
Thanks for the detailed feedback, much appreciated! Always room for improvement for sure. I may try a BW conversion to neutralize the color concern.

I guess I should have labeled the post “vintage glam with a modern twist” 😁 …

Beautiful model 👍🏻
On the whole, these are great images of beautiful Jordan, DD. Beautiful dress, and I like the lighting/shadow.
I have to agree that I have problems with the same points others have brought up.
• the green backdrop
• her double-jointed finger pose, the missing thumbs
• I'm undecided about the crop at the top of her head in the second image. It looks cramped.

Great feedback and very helpful - the details matter indeed! ... Posting a couple of different crops and BW conversion below. Lmk what you think!
Thanks again everyone for the detailed feedback, really helpful and appreciated! ... I'm including a couple of BW conversions of the same images, cropped differently. Let me know what you think!

She is a beautiful woman but I agree that the nose bling detracts from her beauty. Just me!
Well done photography "Double D"!!!!
Dan
Agreed that the bling does not fit with the vintage vibe for most people's liking ...
Jordan does a lot of alternative, Goth and cosplay modeling - this vintage vibe is new to her :-). ... this set of pictures has received a lot of good press for her on Instagram. A supplier of accessories to a major motorcycle brand has contacted her to do a promotional shoot as they love her look :-) ...

I am an olde fart Double D! So I am not a fan of the bling that both men and women of today display. Doesn't diminish your wonderful compositions..just an olde fart annoyance of sorts!
No worries Dan, I'm with you! ... what do you think of the BW conversions and different crops?

I just mention it as a viewer.....

Honestly, I think the young woman remains most beautiful in elegant poses but my eye goes to the nose ring straightaway. Now that could possibly be that I have seen her in color, noticed the ring and therefore brain diverts eyes to it. Can't say.
All else is excellent! She is a beautiful sensual woman, photographed very well so she can "carry" the image alone.

I am sure my idiocies are in the minority.

BW definitely "vintages"up the compositions!
I hear you Dan! :-) ... I'll post some other images from the same shoot, different model and see what you think.
