p.1 #1 · 2021, Milky way in NM

This post should be the sequel to a similar post for 2020 (that I never made). Although things got better in 2021, still so much of the travel I did during this year was domestic, and particularly locally in New Mexico. One of my favorite styles is astroscapes, and I did a lot more of that in 2021. I think most folks are OK with these types of photos in this forum judging from past posts.

Here are a few of my favorites for 2021. I shoot with 2 systems (Fuji & Sony), but these were shot with the Sony a7r3, and with a 16-35mm Sony or 17-28 Tamron; + low-level lighting for the foreground, and stacking 8-10 shots for the background for noise reduction.

Not sure how I decide a best image from this incredible series. Leaning towards the first but all are truly captivating and moving. Thank you for sharing these beautiful photographs.

Great set of photos, hard to pick a favorite, but I'd pick Cottonwood Forest, Badlands#2, and Mystery Barn.

I like those. Are you using Sequator or Starry Landscape Stacker to freeze the foreground?

The road to Chaco is in terrible condition. The bumpy ride destroyed one of my mechanical backup drives.

WOW...Excellent work. Are the brighter ones planets ?
Like in image 2, is the orange spot a planet and the others are brighter stars ?
.
Beautiful work.

Bisti is just one location in the NM badlands. That area is actually gigantic. I don't think that one of these was at Biti but I have others from that location.

I do use Starry Landscape Stacker to reduce noise, if that's; what you mean.
That road to Chaco has always been bad. It's better with a high clearance vehicle and also you need to find the right speed between destroying your shocks and feeling every bump

I can't say for sure.. Maybe. That day there was some strange combination of humidity in the air that created that halo-like around bright stars. I never saw that again (and this is not post-processing - there are filters that would do this BTW).

What a lot of fun to go through this series. That first one is just too great. All are good, but number one is a cracker.
