It's an Image Thread for one specific lens, not a thread about competing lens choices. If someone wants to compare lenses , that's fine but start a new thread for those interested in that discussion. Some of us would rather avoid the gear talk (GAS) threads. I visited this image post to view images created by this excellent lens, but instead had to sift through gear commentary. How about discussing the photos and how/why they were created? More photography, less gear!

Scott is much more time-efficient than I today lol. Okay, apologies to all - I'm about to get salty here which is rare....but this will be my final response to this individual.
First, follow your own words. Send me a PM next time rather than adding to this thread. Of note, you've contributed no images to this thread, nor could I find one image in 5 minutes of searching through your contributions in other image threads mostly in the Sony forum. You're no more special than the rest of us and this is a public forum, so please be polite and live by your own words.
Second, I think my polite comments above were an adequate response. Many image threads have discussions and you're cherry picking 3-4 posts of mine here. Go through my history and you will see many image contributions.
Third and perhaps most importantly, you do realize this is a Nikon gear-talk forum, right?!!! If not, have a peek at the main page and you'll see "Nikon talk....for discussions on all Nikon compatible gear" of which this thread is within:
The titles of the threads may have "images" or "images and discussion" inconsistently, but ultimately all of these threads are within the Nikon gear-talk. As your comments are not in complete isolation, I encourage you and others who have had similar complaints to reach out to FM to provide recommendations for greater structure / clarity to this forum if they agree. It could help everyone who either hates scrolling through comments or those like me who dislike responding to such comments. Or.....you could just scroll through for the pretty photos like most of us.
Lastly, there are other places to avoid gear-talk which I would also kindly refer you to. There's the "presentation boards" area on FM, and there's also Flickr for all photos and minimal comments. Please go and enjoy these areas to avoid gear talk in a gear-talk forum.
I won't waste any more time discussing this with you publicly, but I have to call a spade a spade here and you chose the public approach so I have responded in kind objectively and not based on the wants of "some of us". If you have further beef with the last page in this thread, feel free to take the appropriate channels of reporting in this platform and I will happily follow direction if FM deems my previous posts to be inappropriate. I will not reply any further and will simply block you if you comment further to be fair to all involved......but I hope to not block you and see some of your images once in a while.
My biggest apologies to the rest of you on this board. Sometimes we just need a good vent and this was my turn I guess. Over and out.
To be fair, I did name this thread intentionally as I wanted it to be a showcase of images vs the endless, often pointless chatter other "image and discussion" threads tend to be, and for the most part, it has been, remarkably so, even.
However, there come times when folks like Rich and myself, two randos on the internet that have more than a passing knowledge of each other's works and preferences through years of casual interactions, take time out to discuss the merits of a lens in the most appropriate thread possible. This short discussion certainly didn't need to be its own thread.
I didn't want to call out the fact that a Sony shooter is taking a shit in the Nikon forum for the thousandth time, so thanks for doing that for me, Rich
Hi y'all. I've been considering this 24-120mm Z lens but just want to know if it is very capable in very low light situations or am I better with getting a fast prime (i.e. 50mm f1.8 Z)?

I should add that if you go in the near future you will miss a great experience as the Scenic Drive is still closed just past the house. Wish they would finish their work and reopen the rest of the road, as the closed part is a really nice part to see.
