Louie - Great sequence. Love the look the starling is giving the sandhill in the first image.

Greg

Thanks Greg, it was something to watch it all happen live right in front of me.

Very cool capture Louie. I've seen Sandhills get annoyed by Red-winged blackbirds before but never go to these lengths.

Dave

Thanks Dave, I guess they had had enough of the smaller birds landing all around them.

What great timing. I didn't know they sandhill cranes would do that.

John

Thanks John, I hadn't seen this behavior before either.

Had it been a GBH instead of the sandy, then the starling would have ended up somewhere else. What a great and unique sequence, Louie!

Joshua

Thanks Joshua, yes this is the first time I've ever seen a SH Crane take after a small bird, but I am told that they will and will eat them as well.

Thanks Morrie, I'm sure you got the same sequence.

Super action set Louie. The one that got away...

Morris

Thanks Morris and yes it did get away and the crane missed having lunch.

Wow Louie what a lucky Starling, and lucky you to capture this scene. Well done. With Mike's passing, I missed my trip to Bosque this year. Bruce

Knowing how pesky those Blackbirds can be your first shot says it all. Almost as if the Crane is saying, "that's it, you're out of here". Fantastic catch Louie !
