Congratulations to Gregg B. for winning Feature Thread of the Week with 7 votes - View Previous Winners
This past weekend I went to look for the Leonard comet to Death Valley but since it wasn't visible to the naked eye, and the best lens was (still is) at least 300mm (preferably 400mm on a star tracker which I don't have) I decided to hit Eureka Dunes and walk all the way to the end instead. I wanted to capture more interesting dune formation and that is unfortunately at the end (around 4 miles round trip).
Most of these shots are taken midday. I overexposed on purpose (without clipping highlights) to make them appear whitish (they are normally bright gray) and pushed WB to the blue side a bit (but not too much).
Here are few shots I like the most. The last one was at sunset. I just like the shadow transition from dark to yellow/orange.
Gregg, love your work and I am always trying to learn from your images. As usual it’s another fine set by you in every way (PP, composition, commitment to explore to unique locations) A+ in all categories and u got my vote 👍🏻
Lovely shots of patterns in the dunes. You hiked far enough to avoid human footprints! I like the processing, it highlights the textures and patterns, especially in the first two images.
