May I suggest the end of October and a hut rental on Uskovnica pasture - you`ll be at the heart of it, hiking to pastures nearby, 2-3hours and you are above 2000m with (probably) snow capped peaks all around. And ofcourse the golden Larch trees as far as you can see

This is a mountain pasture, come spring the cattle is run up there and they stay there till end of september to graze. These cabins are old shepards huts, from the old days where you needed more of them to take care of the cattle, milking them, making cheese. The "big" homestead is a cheese dairy still in operation. During summer here you can buy their own cheese they make there on spot, also some local food like "struklji" - best translation I can manage is - cottagecheese rolled dumplings , sour milk, joghurt...

Thank you very much, I totaly agree larches in fall outfit are the only reason I insisted we go on this hike even if the weather didn`t look promising at all. Boy did we get rewarded

Superb set of images from a spectacular location. The whole of Slovenia is gorgeous, and very photogenic. I have never visited that late in the season. Thanks for posting.
