Do you find using the CFE-a cards to be worth the difference compared to the SD V90 cards in actual use?
A 2 pack of 256 v90 cards is 485 v the CFE-a 160 gb cards at 552 with the Geoff provided code.

For my use I haven't gone to CFe-A. I can count on one hand the number of times I've hit the A1 buffer for BIF over my 1st year with the camera (I just checked and my first A1 image was March 11th, 2021...Happy Birthday A1). WIth the way I shoot of controlled 1s bursts and the rare 3-5s burst even at 30FPS with Compressed RAW you will just hit the buffer with a 5s burst.
However, if you shoot Lossless Compressed and if you do lots of 4-5s bursts followed very shortly by more 4-5s bursts then the Cfe-A would be better. The buffer clears much faster.

BTW the Pro Reader with cards in it does get pretty warm. I just load download than pull card out. Don’t leave it in. Treat your cards like gold. The Delken reader is magnetic on the bottom which is kinda nice as you can place on monitor stand or similar and it wont move around on you.

Thanks, I use Compressed raw and I don't think I have used the 30fps in 3 months, just too many of the same to go through. I rarely hit over a 3second burst either. I was asking because I wanted more card capacity when I travel. I dump what I shoot onto my lap top and then at least 2 externals, but hate formatting the cards so I would like to keep them as a backup till I get home, but the cards are so expensive. Appreciate the advice.

Just get some cheaper cards just for the backup side. If your downloading to laptop than just a nice external would probably be enough plus the laptop for backup
these CFe cards for me are more for download speeds from card more than shooting speed . I have not shot a burst in decades.

The biggest advantage I've found with CF express cards is shooting video after a burst of shots. The time to clear the buffer with CFE cards is noticeably faster than v90 cards, so I can switch to video sooner. If you only shoot stills, it's probably not worth the higher price.

Same here. I often take long bursts at 30fps and quickly switch to video to grab some short clips. With the SD card it can take over 1 minute to clear the buffer before I can start recording video. With the CFE-A card it is a matter of few seconds and with a shorter bursts there is no delay at all.

In this case, SD cards are a better choice for you, especially that you can get ones with higher capacity - 256GB.

Can't you set video to record to slot 2? Does it make you wait for an empty buffer to switch to video? Not something I've tried myself

With the A1, I have to wait for the buffer to clear before I can record video even if video is going to a different card than stills. If someone has a workaround for this, I would love to hear it.

Everyone - For CF-A cards, keep an eye on the FM buy/sell forum. (Lots of other excellently-priced goodies too)
Cards come up regularly as people abandon their A1's - likely because they didn't want to spend the time learning with such a steep learning curve.
