Thank you very much, Greg! Yes, to the location. I visited this place a lot during the last season that lasted a few months. I could see the development of the owlets. I hope that they postpone the development further and further out and better yet, end up cancelling that all together. Keep in touch and we will see each other at both places, here and the falcon site in the early part of springs.

Joshua, I’ve noticed the same rapt eye contact with burrowing owls in Aruba. They always seem to be hyper vigilant so I wonder if this is indicative of that?

Also do you have the AEL button programmed to Recall Custom Hold?

Thank you very much, George! Their eyes are fixated on me/us since we literally stick out like a sore thumb out in their environment/surrounding. And yes, they sure are hyper vigilant.

Yes, that’s the function of Recall Custom Hold. By pressing the AEL button, I could instantaneously get a completely different set of shooting parameters. There are 3 settings and my first setting used for this image is more for capturing perched birds; slower shutter speed, lower ISO setting, etc. And of course, I can switch back to the back button AF customized for freezing actions.

Love it, Josh. I'm one of those who could care less if the rest of a bird's body in a BIF shot is OOF as long as the eyes are not.

That is a beautiful image Joshua. Wonderful sharp image considering the shutter speed, really impressive. The beautiful clean background really makes the owl pop and the eyes magic.
