Nikon refused to offer him a Z50 demo unit for review I guess. Ever since that happened he's been bashing Nikon cameras and keeps saying 'Nikon is dying' in videos every now and then.
All of it without even touching the camera is ridiculous for someone who claims to be the world's most rational camera reviewer...

The Northrups seem to have fallen out of respect in the industry. Certainly where Nikon is concerned. Since the release of the Z9 they have posted 2 videos. I didn't watch either, but the first seems to be about how hard a time Mrs. Northrup has being a photographer with ADHD, the second something about photographing Ghosts!
I guess you do weird videos when denied access to the important new camera equipment that is being released into the market.
The Northrop’s pivoted from doing serious in-depth content to being a content mill a while back. Their old content is really excellent while their new content is simply atrociously lacking in comparison.
The A7IV preview they posted was pretty hilariously badly done, it was only interesting at all due to being ‘leaked’ a day early. They were trying to demonstrate resolution using images with no high-frequency detail for example (all 3 architecture shots in that video).
Pretty sure they got sucked into the YouTube revenue algorithm’s bias towards views and regular upload over content quality, so they churn out as much content as they can, make sure it’s pretty and make money off of that stream.

I'm not sure why one would expect anything different. Ken is many things...but he's also been consistently Ken.
- Ken has his opinions. I don't agree with most of them. No biggie.
- Ken's channel bounces from Physics to Australia to Leatherworking to Cameras to More 50mm Lenses than God. It's his channel, not mine.
- Ken likes what he owns, dismisses what he doesn't. A behavior/trait that many of us share from time to time.

Totally false accusation and I won't have it!!!
They paid CASH for that Beemer...

Why would anyone listen to, let alone take this much time to report/restate, anything that this moron has to say?
the only good that could possibly come from posting ken wheeler cr*p is that it motivates people to downvote his garbage on youtube, which in turn tells the yt algos to not put ken wheeler videos in suggested video feeds.
that would normally be the death of a channel, because yt is the worlds 2nd-biggest search engine, and the vast majority of traffic a channel gets comes from the yt suggested videos column.
it's clear that people hate his content, it's so bad that he deliberately chose to hide the like/dislike stats that normally show up on every yt video.
how he ever got to 91 million views with a bunch of trash videos is unfortunately a sign of the times.

1:42 - So what exactly are "high efficiency RAW" ?
The 35-40 buffer statement, as I understand it, was for full RAWs, lossless compressed.
If he uses one of the more compact RAW formats (D850 IIRC had mRAW and sRAW, both pretty useless at least when the D850 released) then the card is probably fast enough to store it in realtime.

High-Efficiency RAW* 1 which retains the same level of high image quality as the conventional uncompressed RAW in an approx. 1/3 smaller file size. High-speed continuous shooting at 20 fps for more than 1,000 frames*

If EOSHD is to be believed, the new raw codec should be licensed from intoPIX using their TICO RAW for both their video compression and stills compression. They're still 14-bit stills. We don't know yet if they're truly lossy or lossless compression. DPR says it's lossy, but intoPIX says it's lossless. We'll only know for sure once the camera is out.

I do like mine, and I certainly think it's a good machine, though in my wife's D7200 output I have not noticed the glaring and egregious deficiencies he attributed to it. When my D7100 eventually wears out or breaks, I might just get a D7200, and bask in its tiny but real advances.
Like many here I stopped watching him as he got less and less relevant and rational, and more potty-mouthed.

To get more, you need to use lossy compression; later he says 70 with the second, 150 with the third setting with the cards he uses (Sandisk Pro Extreme). I would say for sports a lossy compression should be perfectly tolerable, however at 20fps even 150 shots is only 7.5 seconds continous. Nikon claims at lowest setting with best cards one basically gets unlimited buffer.

D7100 is a good camera, it just was a weak raw buffer. I honestly don't care what he praised in the internet stone age at this point. He was good when he was recommending D series lenses and Tamron stuff. At this point I don't care what he liked. He de-evolved into basically a stain on YouTube that is doing nothing but slandering Nikon, trying to big up Fujifilm for no reason whatsoever and is honestly just a joke and even tainting the good name of Fuji just for associating with that brand. Dude's poison. M. Currie wrote:

To get the good buffer you need to put in proper CFE cards, which Chris didn't have and for some odd reason Nikon didn't provide on the spot. Sauseschritt wrote:

This is what we needed. I guess we can take the Lossless Compressed as the old uncompressed and the High Efficiency* as the old lossless compressed. That would make the easiest for most people to understand.
I think I will end up using the new Lossless Compressed for frame filling slower moving subjects and the HE* will be for BIF and fast action. That would make the most sense to me
