Good luck selling at $999 when the amazing Sigma DN is only $100 more(I got mine for only $900 new), I mean if this is $700 it will do OK
I think they think the selling factor is being parfocal, which the Sigma is not.
I don't know if that many people gonna need that, but from my experience (had 5 Samyang AF lenses and sold all of them) Samyang AF just not up to the same standard, personally AF means everything to me, even if the IQ is not that important to me.

With Samyang it's usually "when" not "if" -- they tend to go on permanent sale, 6-12mo after release, usually just about 30%.
The AF on of their newer lenses that I tested was very solid, I've also had good luck with IQ copy-variance lately -- but I ultimately sold most of my Samyang lenses (or intend to), except for the 75/1.8 which I really like.
The Samyang "tiny" series was very appealing to me, finally a manufacturer went back to some of what made mirrorless appealing (to me). They seem to have sold quite well, so I wonder if that rubbed off on some other manufacturers -- like Sigma's i-Series. Ultimately, Sigma lenses are mostly better built and tend to make better compromises for my liking (e.g. the 45/2.8 and 24/3.5 over Samyang's 45/1.8 and 24/2.8), albeit at increased cost usually.
I'm curious to see some reviews of this lens, I bet it will be mostly great with some caveats and probably worth the price... but you can't buy a VW and expect a Lamborghini.
According to the comparison, its performance is similar to the GM, but slightly behind corner performance that means great lens with this price. Almost between 24-105mm F4G and 24-70mm F2.8 GM. I am using 24-105mm F4 G, but Samyang/Rokinon is superior in its sharpness slightly overall from MTF chart. The merit for us is its price is initially falling shortly. Patience is great award till saturated price (70-80%) is reached.
I do like Samyang and will get the new 50 f1.4 but I think I will pass on this lens. I like how the newer zooms from Sony are lighter and this seems a step backwards. I'm sure it's down to price as most materials that are lighter and equally strong as heavier materials, tend to be more expensive.
I currently have the Tamron but keep looking at the Sigma. The only thing thats stopping me is the direction of zoom. Will it annoy me too much.

Well, we got first big YT review in for this lens:
She's not my favorite one but the review is pretty decent.
I actually really enjoy her reviews, as they are not too technical, which is a nice change compared to my typical approach to lenses ...
Anyways, there are a couple of interestings things in this video:
1) bokeh looks rather bubbly to me, also the comparison at ?t=430" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">7:10 favors the Tamron IMHO
2) the tidbit about (the lack of) parfocality and the way the lens tries to achieve it
3) there's an error about reported 24-70DN weight, as it's most definitely more than 7g lighter than the Samyang.
Anyways, I hope someone does a thorough comparison to the Sigma, as that's where the customers will be won/lost...
She pretty much does only portraits that's why i don't enjoy her reviews that much since you can test only so much with it.
That bokeh test comparison tells me nothing, it's pretty clear it was done in different time, light was different even focal range was different (not by much thou). To be fair i doubt this Samyang lens will be better than the Tamron 35-150/F2-F2.8.
That parfocal tidbit was interesting, thou im not sure if she is right on the "how it works in Samyang lens" and "how it (maybe) can be fixed".
She already said that she gonna do Samyang 24-70/F2.8 vs Tamron 28-75/F2.8 G2, she also said there won't be a Sigma comparison since Sigma doesn't lend her lenses.
I don't think this is going to be better than the Tamron 35-150/F2-F2.8, the Tamron 35-150 is the most expensive lens Tamron have right now so they basically put all of their best into it and they know it's gonna be a huge hit since there is zero competition for it out there, I personally think the Tamron 35-150 is the best lens of this year.
