This is not a work of art, but a candid representation of a large family preparing for dinner in 1963. The silverware matches the chaos prevalent in the kitchen before each meal.

This was a Polaroid Land 100 camera grab of our dinner table. My uncle was a gadget nut, and just wanted to show off his new toy. This picture had been rescued from a desktop frame. Damage can be seen, but it was re-scanned. and attempts were made to recover color, but the eyes are unfortunately black. It will not survive in digital form .

On "you bet your life" tv show, Groucho Marx asked a gentleman with a lot of kids why he had so many and the gentleman replied because I love my wife. Groucho replied, "I love my cigars but I take it out once in a while"

Yes, and many families have their own "Saturday Evening Post" caricature photograph. This is ours.

Chris, and I'm sure that each of your 8 were also assigned/ responsible for looking after a younger sibling. We had to, and the four oldest in our family always referred to the four youngest as, "the little kids", like they were a second family within the family.

Exactly! We'd descend into chaos within minutes without this type of structure!

I hope my kids look back on the photos I've taken of them all and smile too.
