Lol the poll options are hilarious... I buy almost all of my Canon gear used. Never ANY issue. This stuff is built well and is robust. Moreover, if its checked and verified by Canon I would purchase without any hesitation.
My biggest issue with "Canon Refurbs" is that once you factor in sales tax and shipping, its really not that great of a deal anymore. I just head on over to FM Buy/Sell for better deals.
If you are particular about your equipment and want little to no risk though, its a good option.
I have great experience to a degree with refurbished. All of the products I have received look and function as new. That said, their customer service is horrendous. Last fall I purchased a 28-70 f2 when it was listed as being in stock. The confirmation I received said it was in stock. After many months of no show and no calls and several calls on my part inquiring on the status I abandoned the order. You can't tell me that a company like Canon doesn't have a better inventory system than they describe as the reason for that kind of situation. I have seen reports on some of the Canon forums that situation was quite common beginning with the RF lenses. I am not talking about waiting for stock to come in but ordering something they are showing as in stock. I thought the lens would be coming soon but gave up several months of shooting without it while waiting for what was listed as "in stock". I feel sorry for their poor customer service people that have to offer up lame explanations.
I got a 400 doii refurbished from canon last month. 5500+ tax. It's paired with the r5. Looks new, feels new. They called next day to confirm the order and received it two days later.
A definite yes. The only drawback used to be that B&H and many of the retailers didn't charge sales tax so the savings wasn't that significant. Now that everyone is charging sales tax or at least many are, it's a no brainer. The stuff is in perfect shape with the same warranty...,but for less money. The only difference is the box. I also think the return policy is either 14 days or 30 days so you have the flexibility to return for any reason.
In the last decade I purchased 2 Canon DSLR bodies refurbished. They arrived in pristine condition and I never had an issue with either. Saved a lot of cash as well.
I've bought a few things refurbished from canon, most recently an RF 50/1.2 a year ago. Never had any issues. I know some folks here have more recently had problems with the canon store.
Best time to buy from the refurb store is when they have a sale. The prices are incredible occasionally.

Depends on what.
Two refurb EOS R w/ promo codes refurbished around $1150 beat most non-warranty 10000 click bodies I saw on the forums. But I did also buy one from the forums and that was good.
The refurb R6 with warranty that just arrived is a better deal than every R6 I've been reading in listings all week.
We don't pay sales tax in Oregon so there's no factoring aside from list price and a speck of shipping.
I've bought off Ebay a few times, but feel most comfortable from Canon, the forums here, or established camera stores.

Been a 10+ yrs since I've bought direct from Canon refurbished... If you were buying a R5 and/or RF glass would you buy refurbished now? From what I can tell the warranty is the same as buying new? Anything to watch out for or be aware of? or should I just cough up the extra $$$ and buy new?
Have bought a few items in the past without issue, but only when they have an additional (e.g. 20% off usual refurb prices), since I can usually get new for a bit under map pricing with free shipping. Just makes it less worth it without the sales.
