The osprey put on a good show and you did a great job capturing it. Excellent set of images!
And you didn't drop the lens and camera in the water even once.

Yes it is a 3D printed hood from FM member @buffalowolff@
He was selling them to those interested and can print any length you want. PM him to see if he is still selling them.
That is good to read. I had thought of taking my hood to visit the table saw, but that thousand dollar replacement cost was a deterrent. My old FD 400/2.8 L had a short slide out hood just long enough to keep water drops off the front element. You could then attach a longer clamp-on hood when needed. It was a good system. The lens weighed 13 pounds, though, and maybe that fancy hood system contributed a bit to that.

All stellar, Geoff.
I can’t imagine handling the 600 without falling in!

Thanks, having a very stable kayak with wide cockpit and calm water takes most of my worries away.

Great shots. Having photographed from a kayak a lot in the past, I am really impressed that you were able to stay on target for the sequence shots! My kayak always wants to drift in a circle at the most inappropriate time.
That certainly happens, especially when a bit of wind kicks up. I managed to pick some very calm days this year which helped a lot.

excellent work as always, thanks for sharing.
Looks like he was bringing the fish to you.
Thanks. I'm always crossing my fingers that it takes off towards me which depends on how he wrangles the fish out of the water. I was certainly lucky that a few times he did fly right at me and even over me before banking towards land and heading to the nest.

This is a great sequence Geoff... pretty mazing that you can support the 600mm lens demo kayak... I can do this with my 500PF, but wouldn't come close w/ a 600mm f/4!
Picture number 4 is very cool w/ the V-Wing against the background of trees.

Thanks to everyone for leaving a comment. Glad you liked the images.
Great images Geoff. Amazing!
Question: when you shoot from the kayak are you concerned about your gear getting damaged by water? Do you take any precautions to protect the gear?
