Did not know there was a firmware update. Thanks! May not have time to do it before next trip.

Just upgraded the FW on the 150-400 to V 1.1. Anyone else?
Supposedly increases stabilization, but so far I can't see any difference.
As I expressed over in the Sony forum recently, I've sadly had to abandon my relatively heavy Sony gear (A1 / 600 f/4 / 200-600 / 1.4 & 2X TC / etc), and after much consideration have opted for the OM-1 and 150-400. The local camera store didn't have the lens in stock, but a friend of a friend is using the system and kindly dropped it off to me yesterday to try out for a couple of hours.
The person's settings on the body (which I didn't want to alter) were alien to me, so I fumbled around and got this shot off the deck, at less than ideal settings.
I had a Panny G3 13 years ago before I got hypnotized by birds, and I still have that old body (which is likely worth about fifty cents), but I also kept one lens - the Lumix 14-45, which I read works very well on the OM-1. I will be ordering the new kit on Monday.
Does a person get a welcome basket or anything over here?

Welcome to the M43 club! These forums are a lot less busy then the other FM forums unfortunately.
I shoot with the same gear you have (Sony A1/600F4/200-600) and I have no concerns going out with the OM gear (OM-1 and 150-400) so I think you are really going to enjoy it.
If there are days you want to go even lighter the 300 F4 is another fantastic lens (I started with that before I got the 150-400).

I知 sure you will find that your skill and experience in capturing and processing image files from the famously inferior m4/3 equipment will very much make any possible subpar IQ differences a moot point in most situations and with very little extra effort.
Thus, you値l be left to enjoy the benefits of using the lighter equipment.

No basket but a welcome! I sold off my A1 and 200-600 this year in favor of the OM-1 and 150-400 without regret. For me at least, I find the Olympus/OMDS bodies more enjoyable to use and the Pro glass is second to none, again in my opinion. Have fun with the new kit!

I told Colin pretty much the same. Few have his eye for composition and light. That, combined with a distinctly gentle touch to his post processing, is much more important to overall image quality than the sensor format.
Here's a Striated Caracara from the Falkland Islands, showing how this lens and OM-1 handle the backlit bird, oof foreground grass and the background cliff.

Beautiful portrait, Bryan! Please post more when you have a chance. Which islands are you visiting (or did you visit) while in the Falklands? I知 hoping to make a return trip there next year. That OM kit is probably the most perfect solution for the type of shooting and conditions you encounter there.

Thanks, Mitesh! I was only there for a few days, stopping at New Island, West Point, and Stanley, along our 3 week voyage to the Falklands, South Georgia, South Orkney, and Antarctica. I've been in Torres del Paine for a week, and am now heading back to the Falklands for 2 weeks. We'll be visiting Bleaker, Sea Lion, and Saunders Island. I will post more when I am connected again.
For now, here's a snow petrel. The 150-400 has been a great lens for shooting so many different subjects on land, from the zodiacs, and in the rain and snow.
