And you assumed that this is really him....Tamron has started Phase 2 of their plan. They've already won.

Good to know you're alive, I was beginning to suspect you have been captured on the day of delivery by Tamron agents to have more people preorder before someone discovers the truth about this lens .

It's all starting to make sense... no English reviews and no clear date when you'll have it in your hands... it's a big abduction scheme!
In all seriousness though. I do hope people will get theirs soon. There's been quite a bit of uncertainty and the best way that can be tackled is having an amazing lens in your hands before long.

Absolutely. I‘m sure it‘s a good and versatile lens. For what I do (casual portraits, no action/sports) I suppose the af will be more then perfect. However, the bokeh will be judged when I have it hear or have seen many more sample pictures. Well, normally when I have it here and see it on my own screen.

My 35-150 has just been made ready for shipping by the dealer. Cool: Then it should get to me this week. Uncool: Then soon I'll be hunted by Tamron‘s hit men too.

Just got an email notification that Adorama will ship mine by the end of today, and I didn't immediately pre-order when it was announced, so that's a good sign for those that did.

I'm excited for everyone to get this lens and start sharing their pictures and thoughts. I went to the fair with the 40 2.5g yesterday but I was thinking how nice it would be to have this lens instead (aside from the weight factor).

Yes, weight is surely an issue. But exactly for events like fairs etc. I think this focal range can really come in handy. One user should have received his copy by now Let‘s hope for some footage soon

Event...especially if there is some indoors requires wider than 35mm...at least for me. I think that is why the traditional 24-70 lens is so popular...it handles event shooting very nicely. I use a combination of 25mm and 85mm when shooting events.
Also, the long end, 150mm is typically too long for the majority of events...again, the one's I shot which is music, parties and weddings.

Look, if you are against zooms - it is ok, people are different. But this thread is about new zoom which is different from all others.
Answering your question -
(1) I just take a look in my concerts portfolio - absolute majority of shots have been done either on 1635GM or 70200GM. 25 is surely not wide enough for me, 85 in not long enough. On the wider end best photos have been done on 16mm, it crashes all geometry so wildly that it looks top notch.
(2) Ideal set-up for wedding for me is 35GM, 85GM and 1635GM. I can not live without 16mm (mainly on the dance floor).
And I am not saying that your set up - 25 and 85 - is wrong: you prefer it and it is good for you. But I prefer different set up (different limitations))).
I might not buy this zoom - courtesy to 70200GMii - but I am very interested in other people opinions about it.
Zooms have limitations. Primes have limitations. Any set up is always trade off.
Good luck for you for shooting your primes, and thank you for allowing us to exchange info re new zoom with revolutionary range.
Tons of information, good review.
V helpful comparisons with 35GM, 2470GM, 70200GM etc.
Indeed, the Tamron turned out surprisingly good in that review, even managing to edge out the new GMII in some areas. Still, I find it hard to compare these two zooms due to the intended usage/application/design priorities imho.
After there were constant complaints about the size and weight, I feared the worst. But that's not an issue at all. In any case not for targeted use at events, etc. And especially not when you consider how powerful this lens is.

How's the touch and feel? Does it feel up to the quality of the 70-180? or is it more of a 28-75 G1?

Good news))))))
