p.1 #1 · Puffins and Other Birds of the Île aux Perroquets
Île aux Perroquets is a tiny islet in the Gulf of St. Lawrence and it's an absolute birder's paradise. I was incredibly lucky to spend a few hours there last week; wish I could stay for a month.
I was mostly shooting puffins - my camera gravitated to them all by itself - but I also photographed razorbills, bank swallows, common murres (common murre in bridled form is included below), and black guillemots. Some shots of these birds are included below to break up the onslaught of puffins.
All photos were taken with a 7D2 + 100-400 and 600 (with and without a 1.4x). 600+1.4x on crop was ideal for shooting birds from above; handholding the v3 was awesome. There might be a couple of 1DX shots in here but I mostly wanted to maximize reach.

Thank you very much, Bob! This was a pretty long drive for me but the scenery is absolutely incredible so I got a ton of landscape shots out of this trip as well.

All these great shots in a few hours. Amazing!
Too many great shots to pick favorites.

Thank you, Dave!! Let's just say that this was a very target-rich environment. One shot I didn't get is a puffin landing at a burrow and facing me. I spent some time standing above several burrows but I noticed that the birds just wouldn't land with me there so I didn't want to stress them and moved on.

The entire set is excellent but I understand why your gear gravitated to puffins; those puffin images you captured are wonderful, OSP!
