For sale is a Gitzo GT1542 Mountaineer 1 series Carbon Fiber Tripod in near mint condition. I had a hard time deciding between this and the RRS TFC-14 MK II. In all my test, they are neck to neck in performance, but the Gitzo is a lot more versatile and is a lot higher even without the center column extended. In the end I have to let one of them go, and I don't mind keep either of them (if you are interested in a near mint condition RRS TFC-14 MK II, just let me know). The GT1542 mountaineer is really a piece of art, and truly Gitzo engineering at its finest. It closes longer than the traveler series but its girth is smaller than the latter. It is also a lot stronger than the GT1545T as I have compared them side by side. Its center column locking mechanism is a lot more firmer and the leg locks are also much more substantial than the 1 series traveler counterpart.
B&H retail price is $880 and I am asking for about half of that. I will pay shipping within CONUS, and the buyer adds 3% PayPal fee if applicable.
