A portrait I shot yesterday of Cee J and Ian. Cee J turns 30 next weekend and hired me to take some portraits of him to document the time in his life. His partner Ian was there for the shoot and when we were finished with Cee J's portraits I asked if I could get one of the two of them.
Shot using an original Canon 5D with a Canon 50mm f/1.4 attached set to f/6.3, 1/160th sec, ISO 50. Lit using a flash with an octabox attached, positioned to be fairly heavily feathered.

Very well done. I think it would be extremely difficult to improve that shot.
I
Wow thank you so much. This has to be my favorite photo that I've ever taken, so to hear something like that really makes my day. It's probably going to go straight to my head lol.
I see the blanket more than just a warm color addition but it conveys a symbolic meaning of togetherness, too. At any rate, it is a well-executed image.

Joshua
Thank you Joshua. It was an unplanned addition to the shoot that worked out perfectly. A happy accident that they even brought it.

Nice image - well thought out color palette - even though you said the blanket was unplanned - don't tell anyone and just take credit for it. lol
I can't tell where you put the octabox. Not sure if that's a good thing for you (crazy good skills) or a bad thing for me (I should be able to figure it out).

So well done!!!!!
Thank you! The octabox was positioned to camera right, but positioned in a way so that none of the light was hitting the subjects directly. As a result you get extremely soft and subtle lighting, and it was my hope that it only enhanced the natural light that was already there rather than making it so the flash light became the focus of all of the lighting. The sky was also overcast on this morning, making it so the ambient lighting on the background/location was also very soft.
