Great image quality and what an expressive image, too, Jemeni.
Thank you. I like to take wildlife action. I hope I will get some soon. Fox squirrel is not something you can see everywhere. They are protected in FL. There are few in the area we live. So I like to keep some records.

Are there any comparisons of the 70-350mm vs FF options when resizing the full frame 61MP down to 26MP at small apertures?
For landscapes, I'm not limited by AF or reach/pixel density. I would also prefer the higher dynamic range by not cropping, but might consider it if there are sharpness advantages
I haven't really found any comparisons that explicitly normalize like that.
I really wish the Tamron 70-300mm or E 70-350mm was shorter. It's the same length as the 70-180/2.8, though of course there is a weight difference. I wouldn't mind a slower aperture either. At this point I might just own a 55-210mm for when I can't take the 100-400. Apparently you can remove the rear baffle on the 55-210mm and get close to FF coverage at the telephoto lens.

I just posted about the 70-350 on another thread. I compared the 70-350 against the 70-300, shooting on the rIV and the 70-350 was sharper.
The other advantage I found was the 70-350 covers more than APS-C. At the lower end it is almost full frame. At the upper end the amount of coverage depends on the image ratio, but I found that on a 4x5 you still get about 37mp, on the rIV. The coverage tests can be seen at https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1645188/0#15216898

I assume you mean the Sony FE 70-300 G OSS--I've only tried it in a store.
The Tamron 70-300 RXD worked pretty well for me yesterday on A7RII for motorsports. My back didn't get fatigued which has been my experience with the heavier zooms. I did get confused about zoom direction a few times probably since I used Canon lenses last year. The big rubber zoom grip and lack of superfluous doodads is great.
It does have some field curvature at the wide end. I was mainly using it in the 150-300 mm range.
Care to show some images if possible? How was the AF accuracy with the A7Rii? Did you miss the lack of OSS in the lens (assuming you shot handhold)? I am looking for a light telephoto to go with my A9 and targeting motorsports specifically.

I've been using it with the A7RIV now. AF has been fast and accurate. I do miss panning stabilization. I don't get why there is not a panning mode option in camera. Be aware that third-party lenses do not support AF-C above 15 FPS during bursts.

In this range I preferred the full frame Tamron 70-300. Excellent optics at a great price but forget about it as a low light lens. With some regret the Tamron went back for the Sigma 100-400. It’s been all I could hope for at quite a bit less than half the cost of the Sony.
I also own the Sony and it’s great when I’m not on the road or want to further extend reach with the 1.4x TC.

Perhaps too late but…
I am currently testing the a6400 + 70-350G and found the following so far.
The lens works perfectly on the A1 at 30fps in APS-C mode and has no trouble tracking a lorikeet in flight. Nails the eyes and stays on the entire sequence. It takes the a1 3 frames to acquire focus on the head on an incoming lorikeet at about 5 meters. So the AF on the lens seems up to pretty much any task.
The A1 seems to behave the same as with the 100-400 - so can’t really tell the difference.
No trouble with gulls and gannets - the gannet nearly ran me over so mobile phone might have been better option. Check the web site link for photos.
It is super sharp - pretty remarkable I think. Even on the a6400 I can get some really impressive images but I am filling the frame. A fair bit of vignetting.
Crop the images and things will fall apart very quickly - see the lorikeet BIF images from the a6400 - they don’t scale up well on my 5K display so on the limit as far as cropping for me. For social media no problems.
My tracking is not so good - they are fast !
That’s it for me - sharpness and autofocus speed/accuracy. Top marks.
However compared to the 100-400GM - well I can fill the frame of the a1 so you have a 50% deficit in pixels with aps-c - and nothing can make that up.
I have not had the chance to compare a cropped 100-400 image with an 70-350 image of the same subject/light yet but will do so in due course.
I am sure there is a way to post a link to another post - if so please let me know how - in the meantime
Given it is 1/3 the price of the 100-400 its pretty decent. For BIF I will use f8 a lot so the fact that it is a bit slow is not really a problem with denoise software what it is.

Of all the samples photos that I found online with the 70-350mm, I am having a hard time to find a tack sharp one at 350mm and F6.3. Almost always there seems to be a kind of haze or glow to the image. And no this is not just atmospheric distortion. Anyone else got this impression?

I've been happy with mine. It's just so small and easy to pack. Some family came up and wanted to go to an air show at Pease Air Force base. Not really my thing but I went and actually really enjoyed it. Partly because of the 70-350 and how fun it was to use. Weather was beautiful but unfortunately they had everyone on the wrong side of the runway since the sun was now behind the planes most of the time. Lotta clouds as well. I shot myself in the foot because somehow I switched to just JPG which I'm not sure how that happen, rookie.I always shoot raw + JPG normally. So was kinda bummed when I started looking at the images. There was some residual smoke and haze so these are not gallery type images by any means. But I'm sure they are better than everyone else's cell phone images they were taking and it was alot easier than holding up a 200-600 and chasing planes.

A bit late to the party, but I shoot my 70-180 in crop mode on my A7riii quite a bit when shooting figure skating at the local rink. Fantastic results.

I will say that my Tamron 70-180 f2.8 never ceases to impress me. No IS either.
I have tested it in APS-C mode giving me 270mm f2.8 versus my Sony 100-400. Set the Sony to my approximation of 270mm in regular mode. Shot each at 5.6, the max brightness of the 100-400.

Yep, me too. Great results always.
I’m going to keep the 70-180 but also add the new 70-200 GM II for its greater reach with TC.
Razor sharp and quite light 420mm f4 ain’t bad!

So here's my 2 cents. I just compared my 70-350 at 26mp (riv) with the new 70-200GM ii +2x in crop which is also 26mp. Really could not tell the difference. I'm not saying the 70-350 is equal because it's not in all scenario's. But those tests proved enough to me on the long end that I could sacrifice my new 70-200GM ii for now and use that money elsewhere. They both metered the exact same as well. I have known the 70-350 is a sleeper for awhile. Sony really did an excellent job. For people like me that value small and light and primarily use it on a tripod it should be a no brainer. I will be testing it out with the A1 when It gets here. It is on the list that it can handle 30fps as well. We will see.
