p.1 #1 · Back in action: Senior Portrait

**changed settings on my server, hopefully more/everyone can see my posts now. If you can't please let me know OS/browser that doesn't work, thanks**

First serious shoot in a year. Senior portrait. Her family bought a portrait package I donated to an auction so I didn't get "paid" but got to really knock the rust off with one of the most naturally comfortable subjects I've come across in 30+ years of doing portraits. Spectacular garden in Sequim, WA with peaking cherry blossoms and matching dress (first 2) & Railroad Tressle a short drive away. We shot for almost 3 hours and I've narrowed it down to about 90 that I like and 15 or so that are portfolio worthy. These are my favorites so far that went straight on my website:

D750 & 70-200 f2.8FL

Great set of a lovely lady. I really like #1 and #4. I do wish the background on #4 was not so bright, I find it a bit distracting. Nice work.

Thanks so much. It’s funny that for a while now I’ve pegged the highlight recovery slider and used brightness to bring life back. A ninja portrait photographer friend suggested I need to back off on highlight recovery. He loved that shot out of camera but I had to bring it down a bit. It’s about 50%. This is maybe the first time I’ve gone against my instincts and let the highlights go a bit and posted it.
lol
After 3+ years using capture one and 18 years shooting and processing RAW exclusively (and a year of inactivity) I’m trying to mix it up a bit. I may go back and re edit that one but for now I’m going to live with it. I appreciate the confirmation/feedback.

Very nice set! Love the candid expression captures. I like the post-processing as well.

Thanks guys!
The day before this shoot I got some of the best portrait advice/reminder ever:
"When they start laughing, keep shooting." That was in my ear for #2 as she cracked up at a couple elderly ladies swooning over the pics on my laptop as I shot tethered. It's an instant all time top 5 fav of mine.
