It was actually just a small experiment with Kodak Aerochrome IR emulation, which worked really well in this case.
The idea came from the color scheme of the BMW convertible's taillights and the existing blue and white color scheme, which is reflected in the BMW logo, license plate, and the blue sky with white clouds.
Green vegetation, as in the original photo, disrupted this pattern, but the Aerochrome IR simulation strikes the right balance by incorporating the taillight color scheme into the vegetation, just as it already does with the blue and white of the BMW logo, license plate and the sky/clouds.
That's also why, in this case, I exceptionally didn't make the license plate white.
The image essentially thrives on its color symmetry, the repetition of certain defined color schemes—white-blue, brown/reddish/orange—but also the black/light elements on the car: black convertible top, bright paint, black tires, white license plate, black/white elements in the BMW logo, black lettering.
Without the black lettering on the license plate, the image loses a lot of impact.
The whole thing was then given a slight Orton effect, primarily to give the polish a subtle glow.
Thank you for the video. It's balm for my soul! THAT was true photographic craftsmanship, not like the boring pixel-pushing on a PC we have today. Golden days.
