Al, you have such a gift for capturing light, and creating drama, mystery, and emotional effect with it

Would I be insane to sell my 35/1.4 GM lens and instead pick up one of these? I find increasingly I'm leaving the GM home because I just don't care to lug it around. I have some manual focus lenses, so not really afraid of that. I have the VC 40/1.2, but honestly I never shoot at that aperture anyway. I like the idea of a lens smaller than the GM, but solidly sharp wide open at F2.

If your Sony camera has not been modified by Kolari or similar to work properly with M mount lenses then yes you would be crazy to swap. You should wait until Voigtlander releases an E Mount version.

Voigtlander of course has an E mount version of the 40 f/1.2 and they have made it for a really long time. I have had one for over six years, so I would recommend picking up the E mount version rather than the Leica M mount version but you don't have to wait for that.

There is already an E-mount version of the Apo Lanthar 2,0/35mm.

I have had the famed 40/1.2 for a while now. I got the 35 GM for those times AF was more crucial and because 35 isn’t 40…

that’s what I thought.

I probably won’t do anything right away with my small collection of lenses, but I do think the 35 GM will be the first to go. Sure, it makes a precise (too precise?) image, but the size and weight is at the tipping point where it’s too distracting for me. I just don’t enjoy using it. I much prefer something along the lines of these f2 lenses. Though, obviously the cost is AF. However, I’m not even sure that’s as big as a deal for me than perceived.

Long (11 km) walk today along the Appian Way.
I should use my Apo-Lanthars much more...
I eagerly await the CV 28/2 Apo with Z-mount.

Hi Fred. The comparison with Sony 35mm GM is somehow deleted. Could you check and see if it can be restored? Thank you so much!

Might be the link in the beginning of the thread is a bit off...does this work?

have to scroll down a bit, but then there are indeed some comparisons with the 35/1.4 GM.

… oh, maybe you fixed it?

Mother Nature really went all in on the "slot" part of this canyon showing us where life begins, who's ready for some serious erosion, and maybe even an invitation... But comon you knew what you were posting here. Lmfao.
