Able to take some pictures the past few weeks.
Very happy with the D780, aside from the lack of integrated grip it is still impressing me.
I've always been a shoot at base ISO person and this camera is allowing me to change that mindset a little bit (though that'll be a later picture).
We went over to batter cages in mid-day sun and we ran across this large 4 foot iguana as a surprise.
I look forward to using the 300mm 2.8 any time I could and this was a good way to snap a few pictures before he climbed up a giant tree.
So this was me pushing into higher ISO that I was type a few posts ago.
The dog was napping and despite not having it on silent it was still quiet enough to not wake her up.

When I got the D700 it was the best ever, then I got a D3 and it was even better. At work I got a D4 and it was the best. Then they gave me a D4s with 24-70 and 70-200 2.8G OMG! Then a D800, then a D810 and even a 600/4D!
The D780 is definitely the best DSLR I currently own

on your next upgrade, i'll be buying your old gear.. ;-)
Some D780 photos with the Nikkor 105mm f/1.4 lens in - let's say - challenging light conditions. The stage was configured for a political rally, not for a performance. Yet the band was happy to have some pictures, and I was glad that the D780 managed to acquire focus even in the heavily backlit scene, where taking pictures often was only possible when the light source opposite was obscured by one of the members of the band.
Shot a bunch in May and just about finished processing all of the best ones.
The D780 is still quite good. I accidentally destroyed the cheap connector of my 3rd party grip that gave my vertical function shutter capability but that's not too big a deal. Need to keep shooting more.
Nikon recently had a good refurb deal on this camera, hopefully they keep doing that in the future and maybe a Live view and blue-tooth/vertical grip firmware upgrade.
