Thank you guys! The little fella was a very cooperative model too, so I managed to get quite a few different profiles of him or her. He or she did several/repeat take-offs from the perch, but the dang Canon and OP was just too slow to catch the action.

It's always very subjective, but my eye definitely prefers the way the hummingbird looks against the more muted background.
