Drove down to Alabama Hills couple of days ago to get a sunrise image at Mobius Arch. It was cold 35 degrees....(believe me that's cold for So Cal person!). First visit to Alabama Hills but didn't have great luck with clouds. Dull sky but got the nice glow on the Sierra mountain range.
Climbing to that vantage point in dark must have been tricky. Were there other photographers? Last time when I was there, people were fighting for that position

Since you have been there, you know that this spot has very little room to get the composition with the mountain range. I got to the spot an hour before sunrise and had my tripod setup. Soon after there were was a group of 6 more photographers. If I remember correctly, there was room for only 3 people with tripod. So if you are planning a trip out there, then I would definitely recommend getting there early and setup your tripod. Folks were getting a bit frustrated waiting as the light show doesn't last long!

When I first found the arch almost no one knew where it was... that was about 25 years ago ! Actually it was my 10 year old son who spotted it from the dirt road as we slowly drove by looking for it. Needless to say there was no competition to set up a tripod back then.
