A couple of portraits I took of a friend during a campout. She usually feels very insecure about not wearing makeup, but I was able to encourage her to feel confident and let me take these portraits sans makeup.
Lit with natural light. Shot using an original Canon 5D with a Canon 85mm f/1.8 lens attached.

These are absolutely *stunning* in every way.
Perfect example of how one doesn't need the latest body or fastest lens to achieve stellar results.
Bravo!

Thank you so much G! And yes I fully agree, the latest gear is never what it takes to make a beautiful portrait. It's all about creative vision and skill.
Over the years, I've noticed a high correlation between "startlingly pretty" and "insecure about their looks". I'm plussing in another data point for this lady!
Daniel, I'm not sure if I should even comment. If all you want is "Atta-boy" - then "Atta-boy" THEN STOP READING HERE - for some other thoughts read on...
I think makeup is certainly not in order for this beautiful young woman, but I wonder if some retouching around the eyes, and possibly freckle retouching hasn't taken place? If so, it was done very well, but red heads don't usually have such flawless skin. Almost never does the area under the eyes appear so flat and crease free. None of the above bugs me too much, but the overly warm tone does. Correct the color and she leaps out of the image. Just my opinion.
Beautiful images! I really like her skin tone and red hair against the soft green background. As already mentioned, she doesn't need make-up. Another wonderful shot Daniel.

Beautiful woman and you did her proud!
Dan
Thank you very much. She was indeed very proud, as she told me she had never let a photographer take her portraits without makeup, but she was very glad that she did in this instance.

Was the "atta-boy" comment really necessary? I honestly don't think so. Next time just give your critique without assuming anything about me.

Daniel, I apologize for those comments. I shouldn't be posting when distracted by health issues. I will simply say well done. Again, I am sorry.

Red heads not having clear skin is an untrue generalization. As a redhead myself, I do not appreciate you making such a generalization. There actually are visible creases under her eyes in both photos, and the skin has multiple visible flaws. I would also suggest perhaps getting your display calibrated if you are reading overly warm tones.
