Thank you Douglas. Stunning shots and images as always.
That must have been a pretty long day for you.
K-H.
Thank you K-H! I left my house at 3:30, got there around 8:30. Didn't know if the jets would be flying until 3:30 due to the low cloud ceiling, some people left thinking the jets would not get off the ground to perform. Glad I stayed. I got home around 10 that evening. I could have taken another route that's 270 miles on the New jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway and paid $100 in tolls round trip. I took the 300 mile route through beautiful parts of Pennsylvanian, no tolls, no traffic, probably even a bit quicker than the shorter route.

With kind regards, K-H.

Thank you K-H. The show was at the Orange County (NY, not CA) Airport, about 60 miles NW of New York City. The F-22, F-18 Super Hornet and the Thunderbirds were based off Steward Airport (25 miles away) for this show, because the Orange County Airport is too small to "handle" them. The cloud ceiling at Steward was even lower than that at Orange. The air space the FAA gave the show was good until 5:00PM, they didn't know if the jets could take off from Steward until around 3:30. The show was that close to being cancelled.

Stunning captures.
Thank you very much! I enjoy going to airshows, it's no different than people ordering their favorite food all the time. It's my thing.

i too was at the ny airshow, on sunday. it was my first airshow, so i went with my 100-400 on the A1, i didn't think i would be strong enough to hold up the 200-600 that many times, if i go next year i may try that lens. i don't have as many keepers, and nothing really stunning that i cn see, but i got a few, for my first time. the drive back to long island sucked, got up there in slightly less that 3 hours and home took just under 5. i grew up on eastern long island, many of my friends fathers worked for Grumman's and some of my friends in the 1970's to mid 80's worked on f-14's. saw them flying and doing touch and goes many a day
This past weekend's trip to Block Island, RI for a family wedding. This shot was taken at sunrise from our rental home across the Mill Tail Swamp and Pond to the left.

The Nikon users don't seem to appreciate my photos, so I hope they are coming out decent enough quality on this forum.
I had been wondering about commenting on your images and had decided not to but, given the comment above, it might be helpful. Please take this as constructive criticism! No offence intended!
Your images do all have a particular look which I think is partly down to your cropping and partly down to processing. In summary, the images are very "crunchy". It looks to me as if you might be cropping too much leading to rough details. You are also cropping very tightly with the main subject almost filling the entire picture. Sometime, less is better, with more of the surrounding environment or space for the bird/insect/subject to fly into or look into. I also think that you are over-sharpening. I don't know what you are using for sharpening but I think less would definately be better!
I hope that helps and is taken in the spirit intended!
