10 star Douglas!
I've got maybe too many Beebalms growing. I think I put out over 500 seeds.
Most are now 2-2.5 feet tall. I think mine will bloom in August (52F again still morning here).
Yesterday I visited a neighbor a 1000 feet lower and 2 miles down. He has 5 hummers working his
feeders. Maybe they'll move my way as summer progresses.
A couple shots from the dog walk this morning. It was unseasonably cool with no breeze, the lake was covered by beautiful mist in gorgeous morning light. A couple great blue herons were gliding through the mist just above the water in beautiful light, there I was with my A1, the 600 GM and a dead battery. At least I was able to squeeze a couple shots before the battery went completely dead. I didn't have a spare with me.

Well 149113 no geese or cranes this time of year.
But you may encounter some local wild life.
Went down yesterday. Left Santa Fe at 4am and got there around 6:30am. Not a lot going on but managed to get some decent images until about 11am when the heat was just too much and all activity ceased. It was expected to hit 105 down there. Definitely planning a return trip in the winter or spring

You managed to get some terrific images. Thanks.
Best time to visit is from the end of November until the end of January or early February.
That’s when the cranes and geese are there.
Especially when there is a full moon or during the crane festival in Socorro.
Good luck to you.
Some shots of different kind of birds from yesterday afternoon at the rehearsal. The sun was slightly behind me over my shoulder, just the right condition for the EVF blackout. Surprisingly it didn't happen yesterday, not even once. Maybe the camera knew I was angry. The only different thing I did this time was I was wearing a boonie hat.

Thanks k-h.a.w!
You could see the potential of the place to be world class. What is the spring like? The guy at the store said they get a decent influx of shorebirds. He also said between Christmas and New Year was best to avoid crowds.
You are probably wondering why anyone would post a crappy picture such as this one on this forum. But consider this:
It was shot in a very dark forest in upstate New York, with hardly any sunlight penetrating the thick canopy. My A1 was still set at my BIF settings - 1/2500 sec. and F/6.3. Lens was 600/4 with the 1.4X telelconverter. I did not have the chance to change any of the settings when this Hooded Warbler dropped in on the trail about 25 feet ahead of me. And thus the picture was also pretty cropped.
And the ISO? It hit my max setting of 12800!
The resulting RAW photo was about 3 f-stops under-exposed. I couldn't make out anything on my monitor. Capture One and Denoise AI did a yeoman's job in rescuing it to some degree.
And the bird's eye was in focus! Go A1.
I think back to my early days of photography, when Tri-X at ISO400 was considered very fast and grainy. It's amazing that a discernible image like this one is even possible under the circumstances - all due to modern technology.

Thanks 149113. The guy at the store likely knows better than I do.
I see Sandhill cranes migrating over my house (Los Alamos County) twice a year,
namely from second half of October to mid to late November and from
early to mid February to late March.

Great images of the practice session Doug. I especially like the shots where you incorporated the moon.
Thanks Ed! I saw the moon when I was there but didn't know it was actually in the frames until I looked at the files in the computer. I will be back there tomorrow.
