Just want to rant...Went to shoot hummingbirds in the morning both yesterday and today, with the sun slightly behind my right shoulder between 8:00-9:00 AM. The damn EVF went black a dozen times! I use the deep eyecup and 10 second power saving mode. It's so frustrating. I will put a small piece of dimlight on it to see how it goes.

Hi Douglas,
I can feel your frustration.
Sony really needs to fix this issue ASAP IMHO.
Unfortunately no word from them yet AFAIK.
I wonder why.

Thanks, K-H. The hummers only show up at the spot (lots of salvia flowers) every 15 minutes or so, and only stay for less than 10 seconds. Between the EVF going black and trying to find the bird in the 600mm lens after the EVF came back alive, I lost so many shots, not that these were money shots or anything remotely like that but this should not happen to a $600 camera, let along a $6500 camera.

I second that , it seems to be dragging on too long so hoping they can get it sorted . I’m right eye dominant and have this EVF problem happening too often when using the camera . I’ve tried left eye and it reduced the blackout but I can’t find and pan BIF very well with my left eye . I’ve also added the longer eyecup and now added dim light tape , it helped but the issue still happens far too often

I don’t want to “like” the post but it is still a big issue.
In my experience it is not getting better or worse over time. Every sunny day with the the sun at my back at certain angles it happens. I have gotten better at reflexively dealing with it. It can still cause missed shots for sure. I am not using an extra large eyecup or tape.

When everyone near to me was happily shooting away when the hummers were hovering the flowers, there I was messing around this fancy pantsy $6500 camera trying to make it work.
I've used the dim light in 2 pieces, with a slight gap, ie open in the center. Has helped alot. But I'm left eye dominant. Deep eye cup didn't work as I wear glasses
