Hummingbird:

A 1x1 of a different image from the same burst as above. Cropped, run through Topaz and a quick LR edit. Looks like the processing order might have made some weird artifacts compared to the falcon crop.

Eye autofocus activated and appears accurate (similar to a shot posted yesterday):

The quicker sensor read speed for the A1 is noticeable for hummingbirds filling the frame. Less banding on the wings from the 12 line read blocks when they fill the sensor compared to the A9.

Forgot my macro lens but this worked out ok.

It tracked the bees in flight and eye detect worked using the "bird" setting when they were on the flowers.

Chasing swallows - I was sitting in my car on a gloomy Tuesday morning on Wildlife Drive at Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge waiting for a bald eagle to return, when I noticed a flock of tree swallows buzzing around the pool. They were feasting on the tiny bugs on the surface of the water. It was a good test for my patience and technique (or lack of) as these little birds flit about swiftly (pun intended).
All shot with A1 600mm+1.4xTC @ 1/3200 sec, F/6.3. ISO was 800.

OMG that little bird is just moments away from being a meal for some Peregrine chicks! Just today I saw video from the UCBerkeley Falcon cam of the mom feeding newly hatched chicks.

Still culling through images, more of the same.

I did see "Eye-AF" activate on a hovering bee. Although it didn't draw the tiny square on the eye but did draw a smaller square on the bee. It wasn't showing the typical dancing small squares like it would in Zone and Wide (both of which I used on the bee). So it was doing some sort of subject detect but not really eye-detect.
Had some time over lunch yesterday to go down to a local lake that is also a bird sanctuary. Nothing too interesting there, but I exchanged my 200-600 for another copy and this one looks to be pretty perfect.
Also got an interesting osprey photo. The position of the clouds in the background made it appear as if I took this from a higher elevation. Heavy crop, though.
