A few from Conowingo today. It was very cloudy for most of the day. The bird eye AF did pick out the flying eagles' eye occasionally, at least that was what the little green square was showing.
Beautiful shots especially the fight for the fish!

Amazing shots!. I'd imagine the actual frame is the third and firth and rest are cropped almost 50%?
Thanks. Here is a uncropped frame from that frogging sequence. A picture is worth a 1000 words

The swallow shot is a winner!. 30 fps? After few weeks do you think AF is way better than A9 for these kind of shots?
I didn't shoot 30FPS yesterday. I believe the swallow was at 15FPS where I kept the camera most of the day. Although I did put it at 20FPS for some time so it could be at 20.
I do think the A1 is somewhat better for AF but it is very hard to qualify. I shot the A9II once on swallows alongside the A1 and really the keeper rates were similar. I don't know, it seems to have a bit more consistency and on a few RWBB takeoffs it actually kept focus during some of the the launch frames which most cameras fail to do.
Basically I think of the A1 as an A9II AF with 50MPs. The small improvements in AF are just a bonus but not game changing compared to an A9II AF.
Yesterday was the first day where I was fully happy again with 600/2x. I had struggled with this combo on the A1 but it seems my struggles were due to lower light and atmospherics on past days. Yesterday the combo was singing along in full sun and good air. Up until yesterday, I was having reservations about 600/2x on the A1...feeling disappointed that I wasn't really gaining reach over the A9II because I couldn't get decent shots with it on the A1. But now I'm feeling much better and will start using 1200mm more often when needed.
Finally some decent light for a change. a1 + 200-600 + TC1.4 @840mm 1/4000s. Happy now that it can match the a7riii as long as there is sufficient light.

Getting ready for Ecuador... Viewed from a certain angle, the gorget of that hummingbird is orangey-red but here it looks like a dark-colored bib .
Nice shot...those flowers are photogenic. That is an Anna's so gorget would be pink/purple....

Thank you Geoff. Yes, the image is equivalent to 1000 words!. Looks like the crops are close to 6mp (even lower I think) and if my calculation is right, it's almost equal to 2400mm FOV.!. This is exactly where A1 shines. Based on all comments I believe ur conclusion on AF. It's not a game changer from A9/II. I have to see other changes are worth for me.

That mirrors my experience. The high megapixel count is very unforgiving of any atmospheric distortion, at least when you pixel peep. When conditions are right, or when shooting small birds near the minimum focus distance, it's fabulous.
I've been visiting the eagles at Conowingo. There's large numbers there right now as the shad are running up the river and into the dam. Easy pickings for the eagles and cormorants. One of my favorite shots from yesterday. This is a 4 Mpx resize from a 16 Mpx crop.
