I'll be using it for more than birds and wildlife. I was planning on doing some product photography this weekend as I found someone selling one for the same price as he got it for. PayPal put a pending status on my payment, so I may or may not have it for when I wanted it. As soon as it arrives I'll post some non-bird photos, though

Since I moved to Canon, that's been the one thing about the image threads over there...about 85% bird photography. Not sure why, but hey...I guess people like birds.

It’s hard to catch a fatal virus by doing bird photography. I’m hoping for an eventual return to normalcy this year and I’m hoping that our photography communities get back to shooting a broader range of subjects. But, I was having a look at the R5 thread this week and I too was noticing the glaringly obvious overbalance of bird photography.

Luckily (infection-avoidance) and unluckily (expensive camera gear) birds practice extreme social distancing from their photographers.

I think this is due to FM attracting mainly old folks with retirement money to spend so all they shoot is birds because their wives won't allow models. If you compare to photos on Instagram with a younger demographic, you see a lot fewer birds and more scantily dressed women.

But yes, I would like way fewer bird photos here. I could look out my window for birds. Show me something I haven't seen.

Don't use this forum if you don't like the people or it's contents. Very simple - I doubt you will be missed. Trolling is your only expertise it seems.

I wasn't disparaging anyone. I was agreeing with the previous posters that there are too many bird photos.

Stereotyping the users on this site when you have no idea who they are or what they do - it's your opinion of course - if not likely misinformed.

You don't like bird pictures? Then don't look at the picture threads; or better yet you ought to post some pictures that you have taken - you haven't posted one single image on this site since you decided to become the number one troll on it. Why Fred allows you to continue is beyond me. I pay to support the site - something you have chosen not to do. So be it - I'll just use the HIDE button on you. See ya!

Seriously, if you don't believe that the tone and wording of you post would be found offensive by many people then a lot is explained. Maybe you are not a purposeful troll after all. You may just be someone with a personality disorder, and such poor people skills that he doesn't know how to say things in a better way.

If this is the case then we should all allow a little more leeway when reading your posts. It may not be your intent to be as rude as you are being seen here on the forums. It may not be in your control.

I am not accusing you, or criticizing you. Just trying to understand and accommodate if needed.

They are often accused of being disrespectful and rude, since they find they can’t comprehend expectations of appropriate social behavior and are often unable to determine the feelings of those around them.

Can we just keep this thread to posting images. There is already the A1 release thread and the A1 reviews thread to discuss the camera and whether it is only for bird photographers or not.

I can't wait for Adobe to update LR... the workflow is cumbersome now.

Here is another one, of a kestrel this time while not in flight but it shows the cropping ability of this camera. Each time it took off, it was facing the wrong direction. The kestrel image is virtually 100% crop and the details are still there...

Will try to oblige when mine comes later today. It is rainy here in No. CA after an ominous period of no rain at all. So I am not going out in the rain with the new camera to look for birds.

Not a bird! Here is a grab shot from my deck, aftermath of rainy day. Since LR can't deal with A1 files, I converted to a DNG in Bridge (updated yesterday), then imported into LRClassic .

Fun test here. This image is a frame-grab from an 8k video of two sandhill cranes doing their unison call. I have to work on the colors a bit since it was recorded in SLOG-3, then brought into PS and color corrected. I need a LUT for PS!

Here's the video:
