I elected 1600px on the wide in from Flickr but the original is 3700px for the web. This was taken looking to the West from Rodeo New Mexico... in the direction of Portal Arizona.
I realize that shooters of raptors have higher demands for eyeAF than I do, but the a1 had zero trouble acquiring and nailing focus on these guys, with the current firmware. The hummers are ~1/3 crops. The deer is FF. It is worth noting that I had no idea what the deer was when I took the shot...I only heard rustling in the trees. The image was about 50-75 yards out, with several planes of leaves on which focus could have instead locked between me and the deer. Nonetheless, at first tap of the shutter, the AI analyzed the scene and nailed an eye I had no idea was there. Better yet, the subject mode was still set on "bird" from the hummers earlier.
