Thank you Douglas. Congratulations. Sublime images!
How did you find the nest?
K-H.
Thank you K-H! I wish I found it. This particular spot at a local garden is very popular with hummingbird lovers because there are lots of flowers hummingbird love. I heard there is a hummingbird nest at the spot so I went, even with people pointing their big lenses at that direction, it took me a few minutes to spot it. It's tiny (walnut size) and green, well camouflaged. It was very very humid so i didn't stay long. Will go back in a few days.

Thank you Douglas. Definitely worth going back to.
Gotta love these fast high MP cameras of today, including A1...
As you may know, peregrine falcons are the fastest animal on the planet, and can reach speeds of ~380Km/hr when diving! So while it is always mesmerizing to watch them dive, it is a huge challenge keeping them in the frame particularly when they are closer...
So anyway, in this case, I noticed this juvenile was about to dive very far from me... So I tried to capture his dive. I had no hope whatsoever for any keepers, but thanks to all the megapixels, and to the Topaz Gigapixel AI, I still ended up with a frame that I liked!
It still obviously won't win any awards on the IQ but frankly getting a half-decent frame after such a huge crop would have been unthinkable just a few years ago...

Are you guys using auto ISO for bird shots? Appearently auto ISO is ruining my shots, i use M mode or A mode with auto ISO with min SS
I shoot full manual for most of my shooting.
The only time I use M+AutoISO is with my custom button set on AE-L which I have set for "perched birds" at 1/400s and Auto-ISO. In that situation I'm slowed down enough that I can take the time to adjust my EC dial to correct the exposure.
When I'm shooting action with birds going against different backgrounds and changing size relative to the background I find Auto-ISO to be a terrible mode.
The only time I dabble with M+AutoISO for my action shooting is if I have a bird that I know is going to fly from shade to sun or sun to shade. Then I'm sometimes forced into it. Like yesterday I was watching an Osprey perched waiting for it to dive. It was in the sun up on its perch and its dive would be half sun and then he would be in shade as he hit the water and emerged. So I did try to use Auto-ISO but I found the EC setting needed to be changed between him in the sun and him in the shade so that made it just useless as I can't change EC halfway through a dive. So in the end I decided to expose for him in the sun at the dual gain ISO of 500 and let the image underexpose as he went into the shade. This allows me to just make use of the ISO Invariance of the sensor and raise the brightness in post. Should end up with the same image if I was just going to raise ISO anyways as he went into the shade.

Many successfully shoot M with autoISO as do I. But this isn't a discussion for the image thread. So please start a new thread and add some shots there with intact EXIF that you think were ruined.
I've watched all the videos from youtube, however if i haven't seen your and some other guys' pics in this thread i would be satisfied but quality of the images i see in this thread makes me question my shooting and processing skills, maybe i need a little bit more time

Color me M with auto ISO
However if you want to control your highlights you can use Zebras controlled with your wheel like in this video....Start @ 39 minute mark.
