My A1+600 GM +1.4TC froze yesterday when the F-35 was making a nice vapor cone, it would have been my best shot of the whole airshow. It just refused to focus. I had to dismount the lens and mount it back on to make it work again. It happened with my other A1+200-600 lens quite a few times too.

Anyway, here is one in the blurry sequence.
Here are some of the other F-35 shots. The blurry ones could easily have been my best opportunity for vapor cones during the show, yet the best camera and the best lens in the world refused to focus during the few seconds. Afterwards I thought the AF was just trying to find the subject, I pointed the camera at subjects near and far, nothing, it just froze.

I have had the same problem with my A1/200-600mm. It seems like this has happened much more since the firmware update, but I cannot prove it.

It happens with my 200-600 too, but never at a fleeting moment like this. When I saw my friend (Nikon Z9 user) post some shots of these few seconds, I knew what I missed. I read the Z9 has its share of lockup issues too.
F-22, the Xi balloon buster from Langley on Saturday.
A rework using the new LR Denoise. Takes a long time so I wouldn't use it normally but I think it does a good job. Shot at 1/200s out of the A1 with the 200-600.
