Thank you very much! This was my second time to see sunset airshows. It's certainly different from the typical 12:00-4:00 PM harsh light for most airshows.

Yes, I use the flip screen and shoot handheld. Usually the lens hood is just millimeters above the water or shoreline. I do miss a few more shots shooting off the flip screen compared to the evf because it is harder to track action. I think Arbitrage and Phishbone have mentioned shooting similarly but they seem far better at tracking flying birds this way than I am.
I agree that low shots look so much better. I think it is the single best thing most photographers can do to improve their shots. It is not the lens, the camera, the processing, or anything you need to buy. As I shot these this morning I heard some other cameras rattling away on the boardwalk 15 feet higher. I can guarantee their shots look like crap. It is legal to access the water at this spot so they were just lazy.

Looking at pexels flowers from our front garden.
Tripod mounted A1 and Voigtlander 110mm f2.5 Macro Apo-Lanthar lens, FE mount; silent shutter. 2 Macro Focusing rails were used to position the camera and lens on the tripod head and tripod. The lower focusing rail for the X-axis (left and right postioning) was the Leofoto MP-180S and the upper focusing rail for the Y-axis (front and back positioning) was the Swebo LS001.
ISO 800, f8, 1/60 Second (in a little wind).
Exposure Corrected -0.09 Stops.
