Enjoyable images. Sometimes birds look elegant in flight, and sometimes just goofy. With 30 fps available now, we may be about to enter a new era in goofy flight images
Today, I drove 3 hours each way to buy the a1 from an FM member who decided they didn't like the grip compared to the a9. I fired a couple of quick shots to make sure the camera was in good working order, put it in my bag and started driving home. I came upon this funky antique place on the side of the road and pulled in. It's my first time with these new menus so I only had time to put a lens on, no set up except changing from jpg to raw. I can't wait to dive in but here are my first shots . . . no birds, no dogs, no squirrels. Well, none that are alive anyway.
Happy to join the a1 ranks and can't wait to add my bird, dog and squirrel shots too!

Great photos! Love the color renditions. I just picked up a Voigtlander 50mm f1.2. Can't wait to try it.
More from the back-yard blind after work. Unfortunately at this time of day the sun is blocked by some trees so I tried to take the shots in the slivers of light.
The Fox Sparrow is a highlight. I had actually never seen them here before this year and today there were two foraging around.

Has anyone who kept the A7RIV after buying the A1 now thinking about selling the A7RIV because it seems unnecessary to keep it now?
Yep, I sold one of my two A7RIV's and my A9II. The A1 easily replaces both. I have one A7RIV I'm keeping in my studio for macro shots right now, but I might replace that as well.

Wow, a warbler singing in a flowering tree, that's like two months away here in the eastern US. Spring is early there?
Yes we have a fairly mild climate here on Vancouver Island. I saw the first cherry blossoms in early Feb down by the ocean. Though most trees have just gone into full bloom in the past 1-2 weeks. There were a few warbler species here all winter but the Yellow-rumps I first saw at the beginning of march. Although yesterday was the first nice plumaged male I'd seen. Previously all drab females.
Our Anna's hummingbirds have already fledged their first brood. They get going early (and stay all winter) in order to get ahead of the soon returning Rufous who are a little more aggressive. The first Rufous males are now being seen.

Thanks, very interesting. Here in the mountains of Northern New Mexico we see the Rufous only in late Summer during their return trip through the Rocky Mountains to further South.
I haven't had a chance to do a proper outing to test the camera on anything interesting yet, but yesterday I saw this funny little bird that could not stop attacking its reflection in the window of my car. It seemed completely oblivious to me even though I got quite close. Really impressed with the bird AF capabilities.

Spotted Towhee & from the brown head looks like a female. Interesting behaviour and well captured
