Very unique lighting in both of these photos. I also like your choice of a longer focal length to condense the dunes. I go to Death Valley quite often and the sandstorms are absolutely miserable conditions to shoot in, hard on both equipment and body. Congratulations on coming back with these wonderful photos.
It's not often (or ever!) I'd risk my gear in such conditions, but for those results, absolutely worth it. You guys are inspiring me to take shots I wouldn't have dared to in the past. I suppose you miss every shot you don't take. Lots of proof of that around here!
The first image is gorgeous Greg. I remember a similar series that you posted earlier. But these are amazing; love how those lines are flowing with those colours. Fantastic stuff.

Let this be a lesson to the gearheads (and those buying into the hype) that claim you can't get a good shot with a "cheap" lens. The OP certainly proved wrong with that lens
Excellent photos Gregg. Really like both the the first one is my fav

Peace 😎
That lens, even though inexpensive, is an excellent lens. Yes, it costs only fraction of what other costs, but the reason for that is the aperture. It's 4.5-5.6 lens. Much less glass, cheaper to produce, maybe more plastic than metal etc. So yeah, inexpensive but quite sharp. It's also excellent for hikes (as it is very light) and small/compact. I also like it's from 70-300 instead more popular 70-200. That extra 100mm reach is very useful.

I have an older AF-70-300 F4.5-5.6 ED lens but I don't play with it much. I bought it in 2001 when I got back into photography. It was part of my Nikon F100 film body purchase. Once I got my AF-D 70-200 F2.8 it went in the don't use bin.
I need to play with it more on my D850. Anyway, your images inspire
