That lens, even though inexpensive, is an excellent lens. Yes, it costs only fraction of what other costs, but the reason for that is the aperture. It's 4.5-5.6 lens. Much less glass, cheaper to produce, maybe more plastic than metal etc. So yeah, inexpensive but quite sharp. It's also excellent for hikes (as it is very light) and small/compact. I also like it's from 70-300 instead more popular 70-200. That extra 100mm reach is very useful.
