I wouldn't mind seeing how this does on crop verses the new 90mm 2.8 on FF. Curious to see if the OOF rendering is largely similar.
These three are taken with the 65mm on aps-c crop mode:
This was something that I wanted to test out a little, as on crop the 65mm should be pretty comparable to 90-105mm f/2.8 lenses. I think it works so well that I might actually skip the 90mm. I think I have no need for anything longer than this 65mm.

Those look good... at this rate I will convince myself I 'need' all the Sigma i series...a 'slow' set and a 'fast' set...
Hmm, those do look pretty good. I may go that route. It's bigger but the smaller APSC camera somewhat offsets that. Plus, I can stretch out my use of it a bit more.
@Tonzah78 The background rendering on the 65 in crop mode still looks great ..
@Dave Sanders .. I am doing this now. Have been using the 35i and 65i which I really like (paired with FE20/1.8) for hiking and travel. I plan to swap the 20 with either my CV21/3.5 or the Sigma 24/3.5 or also getting the Sigma 24/2. Just bought the 45 2.8 since I want to build the hyperlight kit of 24/45/90 2.8 lenses - 1.6lbs total weight , all 55m filters. Waiting for people to get their 90i and post their impressions.

I have the 45 but want to add the slow 24/90 combo to it. But...I also like fast lenses...so why not the 35/65 too? Haha. Sigma needs to stop releasing lenses so I can catch up...
Anyone using this lens on L mount? Strongly considering the Sigma 65/2 and the Leica 75/2, both seem to be excellent but different. I would be interested in an honest opinion from anyone who has experience with both with respect to imagine quality. I will using it for 1) landscape/city scenes and 2) people/portraits.
I also have the 35i planned next. Haven't gotten it yet, since I like to use my Nokton 40mm in it's place most of the time. But I would like to have the 35i as well as it would make the perfect af-companion for my 65i, as a do-it-all two lens kit.
I currently have also the Sigma 24mm f/3.5 which I really like too, but I'm considering on swapping it for either CV 21mm f/3.5 color-skopar (once more) or the CV 21mm f/1.4 Nokton, since I feel like I'm missing the bit wider view of 21mm vs. 24mm. The 21mm FL would also pair up more naturally with my CV 40mm. Not sure yet though. I love how the f/3.5 renders and it's closeup capabilities are extremely useful.
I have the 65mm now. Haven‘t had the chance to take a lot of pictures. However, the colors it produces… I‘m still not sure what to make of them. I use a Sony A7III. They seem to be rather cool/cold, right? Normally something I don‘t enjoy that much… but then again, I only had the chance to take some portrait test shots at night with artificial light. Maybe that‘s the main reason.
BTW. How to remove the magnetic cover when the lens hood is attached.
I had the Sony 85mm 1.8; I had the Samyang 85 1.4; I had the Sony GM 85 1.4; I had the Sony GM 135 1.8; I have the Sigma 105 1.8... however, believe it or not, my most beloved portrait glass (so far) is the Sigma 65mm 2.0 Contemporary. I love its rendering and character. And: I love this focal length for head (and shoulder) portraits. It just simply feels natural. Way more versatile then a 85mm, but at the same time not as intrusive as a 40 or 50mm lens.

Sigma 65mm F2 L is closer to CV 65mm, if not the sharpest 65mm but almost same sharpness,
when I compare with CV 65mm F2 at Sony A7R2.

Has anyone compared the 65i to the Sony 85mm F1.8 in terms of rendering? I'm considering to replace my 85 with the 65i, mainly for portraits.
I'm also not sure whether 65mm is a good choice since I already have the CV 50/2.
I guess I will answer my own question, just in case someone is interested in this as well:
Rendering of both lenses is very nice (IMHO), but the Sigma has a slight edge because it has significantly less cats-eye and LoCA.
+1
The one of first L Mount lenses I bought back after I come back to L in additional to 45 sigma.
I don’t see much to improve on this lens actually. Maybe bokeh is too neutral
