Crater NP is an amazing place. I visited there many years ago. From what I remember it is accessible only for a few months each year. Is that accurate?

Yes and no. If you can brave the deep snow at that altitude, you can access it year around BUT the rim road is not drivable. Employees only from Nov.-Apr. A "tracked" snow vehicle would meet us on the access road for work.
