I have two types of lenses:
The first group for small luggage and, above all, landscape photography: Small, as bright as possible and manual lenses.
The second group for everything else, such as portraits, events,...: Large, bright and autofocus.
In my opinion, a manual lens is completely different from an auto focus lens, even if the auto focus lens has linear manual focus.
The difference for me is the hard stop. I can focus perfectly within a second at night by turning the focus ring to the hard stop and (mostly) a tad back. With an autofocus lens there is always a fuss, the viewfinder is dark and noisy, the landscape is dark and difficult to see, so precise focussing is really difficult.
Even in daylight, I can focus blindly, faster and more precisely with manual lenses, provided the subject is a landscape.
For me, the new Voigtlander falls into a group with the Loxia 35mm and the Voigtlander 35mm f1.7. The aforementioned lenses have never completely convinced me, the new APO should be much better suited to my needs.
The other group is overcrowded with the two Sigmas, the Sonys, the Sony Zeiss, ...
