I've been wondering whats taking so long for MS to get a hands on video out. Not talking about an unboxing... Guessing like every new release there are some hurdles to overcome.
I'm not really impressed with the high iso capabilities so far, can't really tell if the noise is an after effect from high sharpening to bring out some extra detail.
I noticed that in your swallow shots, yes I looked at them on flickr.... and other photos I have seen posted in the A1 image thread. Some at really low iso and still showing noise.
I'm just speaking from a wildlife photographer's point of view not other genres as cropping is a fact of life for WP's.
I'm glad MS didn't rush out his video. We've all seen how bad the rushed ones are. This looks like just Part 1 so he likely did some extensive testing before assembling all the shots and footage for the video.
I could care less what he finds at this point. With camera in hand and subjects at hand many times more difficult than what MS shoots the videos on YT are meaningless to me now.

By now you should know better regarding noise perfomrance at high isos. We have objective measurements and we have the possibility to download the DPreview studio scene raws. We furthermore know the R5, A9, A9ii, for example, have an anti-aliasing filter, something one needs to keep in mind, too when comparing images.

Holger, I don't really pay much attention to those late night empty wine bottle noise test..
My noise test are usually done in the rain forest of British Columbia looking for owls and such.
Waiting for Mark's follow up video with details/thoughts. I know he is experiencing the EVF issue that most of us are. He also mentioned a risk of burn in with the oled viewfinder if you keep it on all the time which he said impacted the a7siii, so beware for anyone using black tape over the viewfinder sensor to keep it on full time. First I've heard of it but makes sense (this was in an email convo not in the video).

He and I texted back and forth on this last weekend and afterwards, I took all the tape off, went back to the original eye cup and set the power save mode to 10 seconds. It seems to have solved my EVF issue, with half press waking camera up in 1 second and my battery seems to last longer. The EVF issue only showed up for me when the camera was at my side and sun was overhead. Once I look through the EVF, no problem. I’m looking forward to Mark’s next video.

Did we get a FW yet for locking up issue that was reported?
Not yet. I don't think it's even been officially acknowledged.
It seems like it happens most with the 70 - 200 GM lens (I haven't had it lock up with any other lens, personally), but I've seen scattered reports of lock ups with other lenses, too.
Hopefully it's something that can be easily fixed with the firmware, as it's very frustrating when it happens.

Personally I hate thinking hard (too exhausting) I just buy the fastest card available -- helps to future proof. (I do wish Sony used type B cards in the a1 though -- that was a bummer.) So for me it's CFE-A's only. Just like my OWC Thunderblade external SSD drives -- silent, bloody fast and also bloody expensive, but once paid for you'll never regret the purchase.
I bought the fastest cards in the past. But as I mentioned CFE is bloody expensive and I'm not sure it will be useful in my next camera. That doesn't matter. Until I buy A1 start using it I don't know how many years I will use it (before selling). Usually a good camera should go for 4-5 years for me. I had 10 years between D4 and D500. But I don't think MiLC is that matured. So don't want to assume I need to spend $800 to get full benefits of A1. If I love A1 and know I will be keeping it for 4-5 years, I will get CF cards .
The use of CFExpress is going to be situationally dependent and IMO only necessary in specific instances. As a data point, I shoot professional soccer and have not run into ANY issue using non-cfexpress SD cards.
Just finished watching the review and it's another quality piece of work from Dustin.
I also now know what I'm paying the extra for, A1 is both sharper (minus moire) and has visibly better DR than R5. I'll say no more as I don't want to start another flame war .
I find it a bit funny that even Dustin has to justify the ridiculously high price of A1. He says it well though, that if you treat A1 as an 9+R+S camera then the price does not seem so ridiculous anymore.
Also, a good point he makes when shooting with Sigma 100-400 DN is that A1 kinda directs you towards Sony native lenses to get the ultimate AF and FPS ...
